The Story Behind 1 2 3 Pray

We Weren't "Perfect" At This.

To be honest, for a long time, our relationship with prayer was one-sided. We treated God like an emergency room—we only showed up when our marriage or life was spinning out of control, when the stress of our careers felt like too much, or when we were desperate for a spiritual helping hand. When things were "good," we were so selfish and too busy or too distracted to even say thank you to Him. We used prayer when it was convenient for us, and we knew we needed to change.

Two Different Pasts, One Messy Present.

When we started raising our toddler, the cracks started to show. My wife and I came from completely different upbringings. We had different ideas about faith and different ways of handling the chaos of daily life.

We loved each other deeply, but we struggled. In the middle of daily duties, career pressures, and the general noise of the world, we found ourselves drifting apart. We wanted to pray together, but we didn't know how to start. Embarrassed to say this, but it felt like "another task" we had to plan and try to fit into our lives. We truly were "Convenient Christians". We desperately needed a tool—something simple that didn't feel heavy, but guided us daily to find our way back to each other, then ultimately back to our relationship with God. Trust in that like most couples, we still argue, we still disagree, but we made a promise to try to become better each day.

Why "1 2 3 Pray"?

We named it 1 2 3 Pray because we were tired of the "gatekeepers" in tech. We were sick of the nonsense: download an app, enter your email, create a password, verify your account, set up two-factor authentication, try a 7 day free trial, your data gets collected, you pay a hefty price for "upgraded features".... all before you can even take a breath.

When you are in a moment of chaos, you don't need a 6 digit authorization code sent via text. You need to pray. We wanted an app that simply gives you what you came for. No sign-up, no "enter your email" hoops, no upsells, no data-harvesting. Just 1, 2, 3... and you’re praying.

Not gurus. Just People Trying To Be Better Each Day.

We aren’t tech gurus or spiritual experts. Most of all we are definitely not a large, venture-backed tech company who needs to try to make investors or shareholders happy by charging people to pray. We simply saw an opportunity to use current technology to try to help solve a problem. We’re just everyday people that realized using current technology helped us solve a problem we had. And yes, of course these voices on the app are artificial intelligence voices in which we felt was better than paying celebrities for their voices.

The truth is, everyday, it feels like humanity, love, respect, and consideration, and simply being kind to each other are being diminished by the world around us. We built this at our kitchen table because we wanted a way to bring peace back into our own lives—and we realized that if it helped us, it might help you too.
